Ahead of the second Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) Awards in Washington DC tonight, the largest-ever ANOC General Assembly took place with over 1,000 delegates from 204 National Olympic Committees (NOCs).
The ANOC General Assembly is the first Olympic Movement event to be held in Washington and for some nations is the first time they have sent an official delegation to the US capital, reflecting sport’s unique power to bring different nations and cultures together.
The General Assembly was opened by ANOC President Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah and attended by IOC President Thomas Bach, Washington, D.C. Mayor Bowser and representatives from international federations, Olympic Games Organising Committees and the 2024 bid cities. The General Assembly covered many key topics including an update on the implementation of Olympic Agenda 2020, the strategic roadmap for the future of the Olympic Movement. ANOC and its NOCs have unanimously supported Olympic Agenda 2020 from the onset and continue to provide support in its implementation.
