Are Britain's bogs heading for drain drama?

Anthea Turner has faced many challenges in her career, but hardly any as daunting as her new role in ITV’s Dancing On Ice television series.  Away from the skates though, she’s still the 'Queen of Clean' and here she shares a few helpful hints on how to avoid household drain dramas

Maintaining drains are often left behind on the list of household chores, but as nearly 2,000,000 drains across the UK become blocked every year, what can the people of Britain do to beat their drain dramas?

Research* commissioned by Dyno-Rod, the drains specialists, shows over 200,000 drains in London are becoming blocked annually, causing Brits unnecessary costs to maintain their unruly drains and in some extreme cases, sell their homes - Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt had to flee their Surrey residence as a result of blocked drains and the unbearable smells they caused.

Anthea, self-proclaimed domestic guru, knows a thing or two about keeping a clean abode and the importance of not letting your drains rule the roost.

As Anthea notes: “Everyone loves a clean and welcoming home, but it doesn’t just mean plump cushions and clean surfaces. It’s also about what you can’t see; blocked drains can quickly become an unsightly and unhygienic addition to your home. By using a professional like Dyno-Rod you can keep your drains clear and healthy and safeguard your home from disaster and high maintenance costs in the long run.

“We can rely on Dyno-Rod to help beat Britain’s blocked drain hot spots. There’s no shame in calling in an expert, even the Queen of Clean has to ask for professional help sometimes!”

Further research** shows that nearly half (42%) of Brits only maintain their drains once a year or less only, potentially leading to problems during the wetter months. However, those that do tend to their pipes are happy to call on an expert; with nearly a half of adults (44%) thinking a professional could sort their drain problem in less than 30 minutes.

**Figures from YouGov Plc. Total sample size was 2077 adults. Fieldwork was undertaken between 9th - 10th July 2012. The survey was carried out online. The figures have been weighted and are representative of all UK adults (aged 18+).
