Lucky Kids Take the Plunge with Britain's Swim Stars at the British Gas Swimming Championships

Lucky children, who learned to swim with the British Gas Pools 4 Schools programme, will be swimming with the stars at the British Gas Swimming Championships in Manchester this week.

The children from Redcar, Luton, Bristol and Birmingham will receive a special master class from six-time Commonwealth medallist Melanie Marshall and 2006 double Commonwealth gold medallist Chris Cook or Commonwealth water polo medallist Fran Leighton.

British Gas Pools 4 Schools takes a special teaching pool around the country and provides free swimming lessons for children in areas where there is limited access to a swimming pool.

However, this week's classes will take place in the very pool where Britain’s best swimmers -  including double Olympic champion Rebecca Adlington - are competing this week, in an attempt to qualify for the 2011 World Championships.

After being put through their paces in the pool, the children will get VIP seats to watch the afternoon competition session.
