Coming to Leeds for the first time, this year’s Red bull Flugtag sees two home teams preparing to wow the crowds at Roundhay Park with their ambitious builds.
The wacky race sees entrants launching man-made flying machines over the lake, scoring points for distance achieved, creativity of design and pre-flight performance.
In this exclusive footage, regional teams are making final preparations for the tournament:
Mowgli's Jungle Glider - Aberdare, Wales
Four Welsh Jungle book fans, the only team representing the nation, will attempt to fly the man-made ‘Mowgli’s Jungle Glider’ across the Yorkshire waters. The team have taken inspiration from the jungle in the building of their machine, with lightweight Bamboo being used to create the main frame and handle, mixed with nylon and rope for the inlay. The base of the structure will comprise of a Styrofoam throne to seat the pilot as he prepares for take off.
Para(dise) Glider Lost - Birmingham
The fight between good and evil has been going for decades but for one day only Yorkshire folk will witness this battle on water. Para (Dise) Glider enters the Red Bull Flugtag knowing that good must win but will Adam & Eve fly across the waters into safety
Steven Seagull - London
Paying homage to the famous actor, the world's first Ku Fu Seagull will attempt to fly the waters of Yorkshire in true Martial arts style. The idea is based on an innovative internet app designed by the team themselves.
