A new school campaign launches which aims to show young people across the UK that calculating risk and a career in insurance needn’t be the sole domain of men in grey suits.

: Today the Chartered Insurance Institute has teamed up with one of the world’s top risk takers- Leo Houlding- to launch a an interactive board game called Discover Risk which is aimed at 16-18 year olds. The game has been designed to engage young people and encourage them to choose a career in insurance.

The team plans to visit schools around the county and introduce the game and run workshops. The workshop aims to engage with a younger audience and show them that looking at risk and how you can insure against doesn’t need to be men in grey suits!

New research reveals that Insurance is officially one of the least popular career choices, with less then 5% of school and university students viewing it as a career. The top ranking career choices that student chose were Law (over 20%), Media and marketing (over 20%), science and technology (over 25%). When students where asked what words they think about when they think of insurance industry, 58% answered “boring” and 42% said “confusing”.
