GENEVA, SWITZERLAND - WEDNESDAY 19 JANUARY 2011: On the second day of the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) in Geneva, some of the world’s top sporting and entertainment stars came together at a special event to celebrate the launch of luxury watch brand IWC Schaffhausen’s new latest generation of its Portofino watch family.

IWC’s gala event ‘A Night in Portofino’ brought together well known faces – including Hollywood A-listers Cate Blanchett, Kevin Spacey, Matthew Fox, Jean Reno, and Bond director Marc Forster; sporting legends including Zinédine Zidane and Boris Becker; supermodel Elle Macpherson; and singer Ronan Keating.

Cate Blanchett speculates about her possible role in The Hobbit as well as her new film project Hannah. She also discusses her fellow Australians recent BAFTA nominations. Jean Reno talks about how he thinks Natalie Portman deserves an Oscar this year, and Kevin Spacey talks the reaction to his Golden Globe-winning film The Social Network. Matthew Fox discusses his next project, a four month stint in London’s West End. Ronan Keating talks about his upcoming tour with Boyzone, and the gorgeous Elle Macpherson talks about working on the next series of Britain’s Next Top Model.

Sporting legend Zinedene Zidane discussed the '22 World Cup bid, while Boris Becker talks about Andy Murray’s chances in the Australian Open.

The entire evening celebrated Italian-style joie de vivre, as around 900 guests were transported to the carefree days of the 1950s and ‘60s. The focal point of the evening was an exhibition by celebrated photographer Peter Lindbergh, whose shoot in the picturesque harbour town of Portofino featured a selection of international friends of the brands including party attendees Cate Blanchett, Kevin Spacey and Elle Macpherson

The 21st Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (International Fair of Fine Luxury Watchmaking) is held from January 17th to 21st 2011 in Palexpo, Geneva. This private trade fair is a landmark event for the fine watch sector, and at this year’s show 19 watch brands will present their new products, including Baume & Mercier, IWC, Cartier and Mont Blanc. Not only does it attract 12,500 international retailers, journalists and brand representatives, but also some of the world’s biggest celebrities.
